If I were to sum up my winter attire in one word, it would be sweaters. I can layer them under different jackets, wear them as dresses, pair them over jumpsuits, wear them over button-down shirts, rock them with leggings, the list goes on.

I probably don’t need to tout the amazingness of sweaters to you. Sweaters are for sure a staple item in every girl’s wardrobe, perfect for creating the best cozy outfits.

As we head towards the coldest time of the year, get ready for sweater weather by checking out our list of the best places to buy sweaters this year:

Abercrombie & Fitch

You might know Abercrombie & Fitch for their jeans and henleys, but they’re also one of our low-key favorites for finding stylish, relaxed, and cozy sweaters.

Think staple sweaters like ribbed turtlenecks that come in an assortment of colors, and trendier styles featuring details like cut-outs.

When browsing their sweaters, keep an eye out for Abercrombie’s elevated “LuxeLoft” and “DreamLush” fabrics, which are ultra-soft and extra cozy. If you like wearing sweaters with leggings, be sure to check out their legging-friendly styles which have oversized silhouettes with longer lengths.

Don’t forget to check Abercrombie for sales – they are known for having great ones, especially around the holidays!

Urban Outfitters

Are you looking for sweaters that are unique, with bold patterns and bright colors? Urban Outfitters is the answer for you!

UO has well-designed and bold sweaters that have a slight bohemian hipster vibe but could work with any style. They also have a great line of re-worked vintage sweaters that are all one-of-a-kind, so nobody will have the same exact sweater as you!

Want to collect the trendiest sweaters for the season without spending a lot? Missguided is there for you.

You’ll be able to find every sweater you spot on influencers from Instagram for a fraction of the cost. You can stay relevant and on trend without breaking the bank. (Be on the lookout for their frequent sales to score as much as 70% off!)

Free People

Free People is what a dreamy sweater paradise looks like. Apart from their outstanding quality, their attention to detail on all their sweaters is spectacular.

I especially love their chunky-knit sweaters as they are some of the most comfortable ones I have ever owned.

H&M is a great spot to pick up essential knits at reasonable prices ($20-$50, generally). They’ve got all the neutral knits your closet needs for you to create the perfect capsule wardrobe for winter.

H&M has a wide range of sizing, plus their Conscious line which uses sustainable, recycled materials.

While Revolve‘s pricing is on the higher end, you can still find some gems under $100 that are totally trendy.

Their knitwear is especially perfect for going out, since they have options that are close-fitting, cropped, and/or with cut-outs. Pair these sweaters with some faux leather pants or high-rise denim, and you’ll have the perfect outfit for hitting the town in chilly weather.

Everyone should have their own trustworthy, basic collection of sweaters. Uniqlo is one of the best places to start building out your sweater wardrobe.

Not only are their basic sweaters made of high quality materials (we’re talking actual merino wool), their prices are crazy affordable as well — think $39.90 a v-neck cardigan or a turtleneck.

Yes, you read that right — Amazon is one of our secret faves for finding surprisingly great sweaters at a super low price.

While it definitely requires reading the reviews with a careful eye, we’ve been able to find incredibly high quality sweaters that last for years! The two above are best-sellers with thousands of 5-star reviews, each one available in dozens of colors.

& Other Stories

& Other Stories has investment sweaters that you will literally have for years, made with quality fabrics like wool and eco-friendly materials like recycled polyester.

Their recycled polyester line of sweaters is reasonably priced at around $49 per sweater, offering a more affordable alternative to their pricier styles (generally around $100). Either way, their knitwear is well worth the investment.

Shop here for slouchy, oh-so-soft cardigans, wrap sweaters, and oversized knits that would look at home on the streets of Paris.

Lulus is one of our go-to stores for basically everything, but we are especially obsessed with their incredibly cute selection of sweaters. If your style leans boho/feminine, this is the store for you!

Their styles feature flattering silhouettes such as off-the-shoulder styles, balloon sleeves, and other pretty details.

Zara is a master at incorporating various textures, colors, patterns, and unique shapes into their designs.

Their sweater collection is a great mix of basic, essential styles, and fashion-forward knits that look straight off a runway.

If you hit up Zara, you’re bound to find different eye-catching styles that will certainly add *spice* to your wardrobe.

Aritzia is the store to visit if you want a sweater you can wear from class to the office in a flash.

Their sweaters are a little bit on the pricey side, but they’re worth every penny you’re investing. Their styles are timeless and classic, and will easily become your go-tos for every outfit.

American Eagle

If you want casual sweaters perfect for wearing to class or other everyday activities, head to American Eagle. It’s the best place to buy sweaters for casual wear.

They have a wide assortment of comfy, cozy sweaters with tons of color options in each style. Their slouchy sweater fits make these easy-going pieces essentials during the fall and winter.

For fancier sweaters with details like embellishments, balloon sleeves, cut-outs and color-blocking, try shopping at Express. It’s the best place to buy sweaters that are a little fancier.

Their sweater selection is brimming with knitwear featuring eye-catching details which give these knits an elevated look.

If you’re looking for holiday party attire that looks glam but will keep you warm, definitely consider sweaters from Express.

Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack is a great store to find sweaters for a fraction of their original cost. As the off-price division of Nordstrom, you can find discounted sweaters from brands like Free People, Lulus, Billabong, and more. Basically, everything is always on sale!

There are tons of great finds here, from dressy sweaters to casual ones. Pro tip: filter your online sweater search by price and brands you’re a fan of to help narrow down the huge selection.
